Mobile App Privacy Policy
How the App Uses Information
The Event Oversight app shows the events, shifts, action items, departments, documents, messages, profile, and account settings you are authorized to see. It uses your information only to run Event Oversight. We do not sell personal information, show advertising, or track you across other organizations' apps or websites, and the app has no analytics or advertising trackers.
Information Handled by the App
- Account identifiers, name, contact details, profile information, and status.
- Event assignments, shifts, department access, action items, and instructions.
- Messages, photos and files you choose to send, and documents you open or upload.
- A device push-notification token, so the app can notify you, and the sign-in session that keeps you signed in.
- Photos or files only when you choose to attach one, and only after you allow the matching permission in iOS or Android settings.
Where Information Is Stored and Processed
Your account, messages, and files are stored on servers run for Event Oversight: messages in our database and delivered live through our own messaging service, and files and message photos in our own file storage. Sign-in is by an email code, a passkey, or an optional password. A password you type is sent to our server only to log you in, and is kept there only as a salted hash; the app does not store it on your phone. A passkey's private key stays on your device.
Push notifications are sent through Expo's notification service and then Apple or Google. They receive your device's notification token and the notification text, never your password.
Storage and Retention
The app keeps your sign-in in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore. Server data is kept as described in the Privacy Policy: records of people with no assignment or activity are deleted each January, and messages are kept for the period set for your circuit or convention. If you report a message, a copy is kept with the report so it can be reviewed.
Your Choices and Deleting Your Account
You can control notification, photo-library, and camera permissions in your device settings, and review or update your profile and account under Personal.
You can delete your account yourself from the app: Personal, then Delete Account. This removes your login, Messages access, and notification history. The congregation's volunteer record stays on file until an administrator removes it or it reaches the retention schedule above. To ask for access, correction, or export of your information, write to [email protected].
Messages Terms
Using Messages means following the Terms of Use, which rule out objectionable content and abusive users and explain how to report and block.
Policy Updates
This page will be updated when the mobile app's data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
